Heswall Concert Band

Beats, Batons & Biscuits...The Concert Band for All!

Heswall Concert Band was founded by Les Stevenson and four others in 1996. We now have 40 members and continue to grow. We play many genres of music including concert band classics, music from shows and films, pop music and even music arranged by some of our members.

Our aim is to provide an environment for

'musicians of all ages and all abilities'

such that their creative musical talents may be enhanced, bringing joy to themselves and sharing this enjoyment with the local community.

We perform at a variety of venues each year and are always working on new opportunities that will develop our community links. Our conductor is Becky Thomas who has led the band since 2017.

Rehearsals take place every Sunday between 9:45am and 12:00pm and we always make time for a cuppa half way through.

In Memory.....

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Les Stevenson, one of the founders of the band. As mentioned above, he along with four others, started the band in 1996 and the band continues to grow and develop, creating an incredible legacy.

We have created a page in memory of Les Stevenson which can be found here. If you have any photos or memories of the early band days you would like to share, please email and we can add them to the page.

We Are Back!

We are very excited to announce that our rehearsals have begun again! Weather allowing, we are rehearsing in the playground at Birkenhead school which provides a great space, allowing for social distancing.

We are beginning rehearsals for a very special piece commissioned by the band to celebrate our 25th anniversary this September. It has been written by award-winning composer Grace-Evangeline Mason and will be premiered at our Play Day Concert on October 3rd 2021.

This is an incredible opportunity for the band and we already love the piece. We are really looking forward to sharing it with you.

Grace is also commissioned to write a piece for the BBC Proms which will be performed by Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra in September 2021.

More information about Grace and our amazing new piece can be found here.

If you would like to join the band, please get in touch, we would love to see you.
